Little Miss Kori Quinn

Last week the teeniest little girl I have had to date came in for her newborn session.  Miss Kori Quinn was added to the Fisher family about 3 weeks ago, surrounded by so much love with her family.  She has two big brothers to grow up with and protect her from boys that will someday break her heart.   I have been photographing her brothers and family for a little over a year, from birthday sessions, family sessions to little league photos they always keep me laughing and on my toes.

I always try to start my session with the sibling poses, esp if the siblings are young because many times they will get bored and lose interest.   I started with the biggest brother Jaxon getting him posed and ready with Kori then we added in Dylan who needed a little convincing (& possibly bribing) to get in the photo.  I have to be patient, yet quick when working with younger siblings and newborns.  After those photos were captured the boys left to run errands with their Daddy.  Once the portraits of just Kori started, Momma fed her, & we got her nice and toasty warm, told her how beautiful she was and she relaxed and was ready to pose.  LOL just like any girl, feed me and tell me I’m pretty.

Jacob and Sierra you have another precious little one!  Thank you for giving me the honor of capturing these memories for you!

Back to the Routines…

Hey Ya’ll,  I hope everyone has had a great summer!  Yes it’s been ages since my last blog, okay maybe not ages, but a long time.  While I did shoot many sessions over the summer break, I didn’t do any of the extra’s like blogging, marketing, etc because I truly wanted to soak up every minute with my kiddos.   I am quickly realizing that my summers with them are going to soon be over and I need to soak up my time with them.  My son will start college in 7 years, that seems so far away yet it truly isn’t.

We went to the beach and enjoyed the salt life, went on some adventures in our beautiful  state, the waterpark with friends and just hung out.  They tried new sports, new foods and had a lot of new experiences.  My kids drive me cray cray sometimes but at the end of the day when I tuck them in at night or when I am dropping them off for their first day of school I miss them and their innocence that is vanishing faster than I like to believe.

I hope you had a wonderful summer!!  Comment below and tell me some of your favorite memories!   Please subscribe to my blog to stay up to date on my fall specials, see highlights from previous sessions and the life and times of AGP!

Mr & Mrs Lavender

Last month I had the privilege of capturing the memories of the beautiful wedding joining Jake & Sam as husband and wife.  They were married by the grooms great uncle in his church surrounded by their closest family and friends.  Carson & Jonah were pulled down the aisle by the groom’s sister Sarah in a wagon wrapped in ribbon.  When Samantha was escorted down the aisle by her father she was shedding tears of joy and happiness & Jake was smiling from ear to ear.  Their sweet little boy Carson sat so patiently on his aunts lap watching his mommy and daddy be joined in marriage.

Sam wore the prettiest lace covered gown with jeweled belt and shoes that were to die for!!!  I mean my feet bled looking at them but they where amazing!!!  She carried a beautiful bouquet of lavender roses and lilies.  Jake wore a suit of his own with a tie that matched Sam’s flowers.   Carson was dressed so cute with little suspenders and converse shoes!

After grabbing some formal family portraits at the church we headed to The Riverside Golf Club in Mason for the reception that was full of bouquet tosses, smiles, hugs, & delicious cake.

The wedding went perfect and flowed so smooth thanks to the awesome timeline made by Jake’s sister Sarah.  Seriously, best coordinator ever!   Most importantly, they are now Mr & Mrs Lavender!!

The Sorn Family

Along my photography journey I have met some of the sweetest clients ever!  Last fall I was so blessed with capturing memories for so many families, one of those was Brittany and her son Jett when they came for a Mommy & Me session.  We hit it off instantly, Jett was such a sweet little guy and Brittany is so friendly and such a great momma. You can view all of the photos from Brittany & Jett’s Session here

Brittany contacted me the end of December about scheduling a family session with her parents because her mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and they wanted to capture some photos before she had surgery in a few months.

We got it scheduled and met at the Dunbar Wine Cellar Park on beautiful February day. Brittany’s parents, Jeff and Carmen were so much fun to work with!  They both adore their daughter and of course their grandson.  Jeff was giving suggestions on poses and locations for photos which gave his girls some laughs.  The photos turned out wonderfully I think and my clients were pleased which makes for a happy photographer.

As you say your prayers please send some up for The Sorn Family, Carmen still has a lot to go through to beat this.

Thinking About Life & Oliver’s 1st Birthday

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing my cousin Oliver’s 1st Birthday photos.  I have sat down to write this blog many times and each time I wanted to give Jami (his momma) a shout out but told myself “this Oliver’s post keep sappy families to yourself.”  Well I am ignoring that crazy thought, more on his session shortly.

I once heard the saying that your cousin is your 1st friend you’ll have. I never came to understand that phrase until adulthood.  Jami and I are 5 years apart, total opposites in so many ways, yet so alike in others.  When we were small we used to spend every Sunday at our Papaw and Mamaw’s house for Sunday dinner and playing outside, spend nights at each others houses, we went to Disney together once and a few trips to the beach.  Then tragedy struck our family and took loved ones away and with that took away our Sunday dinner’s & playing in mamaw’s giant yard.  We grew, I don’t want to say grew apart because that sounds harsh, our interests just seemed so opposite and the 5 yr age difference seemed to be obvious for a few years.  Adulthood came upon us, Marriage’s & Babies.  Jami became a momma to her sweet boy. Oliver has brought my bond with his momma back to light for me and makes me think of those childhood memories more often.  I am so thankful for those memories she and I share from our younger years and no one can take those memories away.

I can’t believe that Oliver is ONE!!!!  It seems like yesterday I was driving back and forth from the hospital to my house to take care of my kids and yet not miss his delivery!  Click the colored link to see the photos from his hospital session, Oliver’s Arrival & from his Newborn Session here  Oliver’s Newborn

Last week Jami brought Oliver up for some photos to remember his first birthday.  He wasn’t feeling very good and was not interested in his cake at all.  He gets his dislike of cake from his daddy.  I mean who doesn’t like cake!?!

ps  There will be a BIG Announcement about my business within the next week!!!!!

Mr & Mrs Miller

My internet has given me fits this week.  I really wanted to post about these love birds on Valentines Day but technology just wasn’t having it.

Jason & Catherine were married in beautiful warmly lit ceremony last October in Eleanor.  Catherine was a very hands on bride & left no detail undone.  She made the centerpieces, the arch, dried the flowers, gathered up family quilts and oil lamps for the tables, made a cute barbecue sign for the food and Jason made the perfect cake stand.   The details were so  beautiful, warm and cozy.

Catherine was a bride after my heart!  She wanted a “first look” & she had an “unplugged wedding”!!!   I believe first looks are great for taking off pressure from the bride and groom on the wedding day.  It’s gives them a chance to be alone, well as alone as you can be with me snapping your reactions, and take in the moments about to happen and shed a few tears if you wish without being in front of your guests.  I think I could & I might, do a whole blog about unplugged weddings.  Bride and Grooms have put so much in to planning their special day that they want you to be in the moment with them!  Not on your phone trying to take photos.  That’s what they pay me for.   When they look back at their photos they want to see your faces watching them take this step in life, not your phone or iPad hiding it.

Catherine’s son gave her hand in marriage, and they said their vows while each of their children smiled with pride as the two families became one.

The guests dined on freshly made pulled pork barbecue from Jason’s business, Mountain Que.  It was de-lish ya’ll need to stop and try it sometime!

It was a great wedding day and I was so happy to capture it for them.  You can view all of their photos by clicking their name, Mr & Mrs Miller  & a few of my favorites are below.

Sweet Baby Cole

When looking over past sessions to catch up on blogging I came across Cole’s Newborn session that I had right before Christmas.  He was such a sweet little one with such patient parents.

Tamra contacted me a couple months before her due date to let me know she wanted to book a newborn session with me and she was expected to deliver right before Christmas so I penciled her in.

Expecting momma’s, did you realize the best time to get your newborn session scheduled is when you are still pregnant?!?!

Derrick and Tamra brought Cole in at about a week old for his session.  He loved being swaddled and in-between setups he wanted to cuddle and nurse with his momma.   I love when my clients come in to a session with ideas and props that are personal to them. These proud parents brought in a baseball glove, bat and a ball with sweet Cole’s footprint on it.  They also brought a cute little Santa outfit since he was born so close to Christmas.

Cole’s session went well and his parents loved their photos so it was a home run.   If you would like to view all of the photos you can follow this link Cole’s Newborn Session.

Kids will be Kids and that’s okay!

I want my clients to know, it is going to be okay. I am mom of 2 crazy, okay one crazier than the other, kids and its okay if your child isn’t into pictures right now.  I have been there!

Don’t be embarrassed.  I know that is easier said than done, try to relax and let me work my magic aka act like a crazy fool to make them laugh & hold down my shutter to hopefully get one photo out of 50 for you.

I hear “I’m Sorry they are acting like this” so many times during sessions from moms and dads when their littles are being crazy and running around, not sitting for a photo, and most def not smiling.  Please don’t be sorry, they are kids, most kids do not like having their photo taken and you know what, that’s okay.

In many cases, when you show up to the session, that’s the first time we have met, I try to make friends with the little ones, get to know them, what characters they like, noises that make them laugh, etc.   Then we start the session and 99% of the time it all works out.  I have many moms say they are so impressed with how many photos I actually was able to capture after they left feeling like they would have nothing.

Also I am not above bribery!  lol

Ashley was one of those moms.  She requested her session be shot at her home that she shares with her husband Landon, and littles Carson and Violet.

After chatting with Carson and Violet about the kittens on the porch we moved to the  porch steps of the their home.

The kids playset was just out of sight and it was a sunny warm evening, what would most kids want to do…PLAY!  So after trying to grab some photos in front of the home, we moved towards the backyard to small tall pretty grass near the pond but made a pit stop along the way for the kids to play on the slide and I grabbed some quick pics there.

When I asked Ashley’s permission to use her session as an example for this blog topic I also asked her if she had anything she would like to add about that session and the end result…  “You just telling me I’m a mommy they are fine made me feel a little better, but I think as a parent you always want your kids to be little angels when they are around people and that’s just not how it is. I even prayed that they would be good. Yes it was stressful, but I was 100% satisfied with the end result and I thought all the shots were amazing! I remember thinking … Well maybe they, meaning the kids, weren’t so bad after all.”

I call that session a Win!  Memories are already printed and up on her walls!

So next time your kids are being crazy, just remember, we have all been there at some point and it will be okay!

Mr & Mrs Stowers ~WV Family Farm Wedding

12 Days ago Chad and Angela became husband and wife surrounded by family and friends on their family farm.  I loved being able to capture their day and learn more about their story.

Chad’s family farm and Angela’s family farm are right next to each other.  The pair were married in the middle at a gorgeous spot decorated with hay bale seats, a flower filled blue mason jar aisle and the most gorgeous arch ever which was built by the groom!  Angela waited her turn to walk down the aisle behind a set of doors at the wood line that her dad built for her.  One of my top favorite moments of a wedding day is seeing the faces on the bride and groom when they see each other for the first time.  Chad and Angela opted not to do a “first look” so when she walked down the aisle and Chad laid his eyes on his bride and she to him …..seriously….. the smiles…. the very huge smiles…..  the look of absolute true love!!

After they sealed their vows with their first kiss as husband and wife we began formal portraits.  I could’ve photographed these two for hours!  Gorgeous Couple in a Gorgeous Field, a photographers dream.   During one of the poses I was going to have them look at each other for one and then kiss in the next one, well all of sudden Chad gives Angela the sweetest kiss and then looks at me and says “oh I’m so sorry she’s so beautiful I just couldn’t stop myself.”  This is a man whole heartedly smitten and in love with his new wife!  They both glowed all day!

After their formals we headed down the hill to their reception by the fishing pond where everyone dined on barbecue, cake and pastries from Spring Hill Bakery and visited amongst each other.

Thank you Mr & Mrs Stowers for having me capture your wedding day.  You were so much fun to work with and I wish you a lifetime of happiness.

Pumpkin Patch Cuties

Ya’ll first let me say, “Thank You” from the bottom of my heart for everyones referrals of their friends and family to me.  It means the world and I would not be where I am without you, my awesome clients!!   You might not hear from me much on here until after Thanksgiving but I am here, behind the scenes, hustling every single day.

In the middle of this busy season I needed to take a day to just shoot something for fun.  I had been wanting to do a pumpkin patch shoot for a long time.  I mean what is more fall than a pumpkin patch?!?!

My friend Missy’s husband has a Gorgeous Family Farm in Ohio with a pick your own pumpkin patch so I met up with her daughter and daughter in law a few weeks ago and spent some time around their farm taking photos of Missy’s sweet grandbabies, Jonah and Karson.

Check out these little punkins!

Aren’t they just the cutest!!
